What is going on with Auto and Home Insurance premiums? I am up for a renewal and was looking for an alternative to save cost.
The new quotes (with worse home insurance coverage) are double of what I am currently paying.
After checking multiple options, quickly renewed with my existing insurer.
Having never read any of his work, I was under impression that Roald Dahl wrote literature appropriate for children.
I recently started reading ‘Matilda’ with my younger daughter and finding it out to be inappropriate for very young kids.
Dude had serious dark side. I now call him ‘Stephen King for kids’.
On the related note, my high school going kid got assigned a book called ‘There There’ by ‘Tommy Orange’.
The book is all well and good but kid mentioned that it has too much profanity and cursing in it.
I know kids now a days are not shy of swearing (I mean just take a look at their Discord chat) but if the book is making a high schooler uncomfortable, may be something is not right with teacher officially assigning such books as part of ‘Language and Arts’.
The kids are all right but I am just getting old, I guess.
Someone can't control which family they are born into.
But, if you really learn the ropes and deliver good product, it would be hard for someone to call you a nepo kid.
I love, love, love anything and everything Akhtar siblings do. Everything they make is of high quality, including this first venture of Zoya.
This movie will always be relevant.
At that stage where I am scared to read about atrocities going on in Gaza. I can’t do anything about it and looking at any of the pictures just break me.
I might sound like a broken record but have to say that Internet Banking works lightening fast in India. Whether it’s UPI or BankTransfer, the money goes in/out in an instant on both ends. Really impressive infra we have got there.
I definitely wasn't prepared for what we got in the finale but I loved this it and the series as a whole.
It's one of those TV Shows I would love to revisit again in future.
Hope it gets all the love in Emmys.
Breaks my heart to read stories like these. I know a personal case where H4 kid aged out and after F1-OPT etc., didn’t get H1-B. Having not lived in India most of her life, she had to go back.
Just came to know that, in 2016, Martin Scorsese made a movie about Potrugese Jesuit priests in ‘Edo Period Japan’.
It goes immediately in my ToWatch list after next week’s finale of Shogun.
Revisited this classic after many many years. Loved it once again.
Decent family drama which, I am sure, will resonate with lot of people.
Good luck to anyone who has to defend themselves in French court.
IMO, there are many other movies/shows which have dealt with similar subject matter in a better way. I don't understand the hype this one got.
The best scene in the movie was the fight scene between the couple.
Mariko Sama in Shogun. What a badass character.

Day 10: 📷 Train Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania
I first saw Lagaan in 2001 with my friends in Borivali, Mumbai.
At that time, with no social media in place, the premise of the movie was not known by general public.
Given how big cricket is part of a regular Indian's life is, I had such a good time watching this movie.
Now, in my 40s, I am reliving my youth vicariously through my daughter. It's always fun to watch how she reacts to the movies which were significant part of my life.
This movie didn't disappoint in 2024. With excellent soundtrack and thrilling buildup to the climax, it was still a great watch.
I thought it was high wind but then he whole house started shaking. Damn, it was scary.
Halfway through the ‘Three Body Problem’ show on Netflix and that ship scene was really something. I am still mad at D&D but some of the blame for shitty ‘Game of Thrones’ final seasons sits on GRRM as well. Evidently, D&D are good at adopting written material. 📺
‘Constellation’ - I only made it to the end of this show due to sunk-cost fallacy. I was hoping for some sort of twist in the end but it just fell flat. Probably could just have been just a movie. The only positive thing I can say is that both lead actors were really great. 📺
I was prepared to see lots of TRUMP signs in Poconos area and they were there.. a lot.. However, I wasn’t expecting crude signs of ‘F**k Biden’ signs.
Does his supporters have any dignity?
Had a great spring break at a beautiful cabin in Poconos Mountains (another successful airbnb experience) near ‘Jim Thorpe’.
Though the spring is not in full swing yet, weather cooperated and we did some trails leading to waterfalls.
The quaint town of ‘Jim Thorpe’ was really beautiful.
The video of bridge in Baltimore just falling apart like a pack-of-cards is horrifying. It unlocked new anxiety of driving on bridges.
I could be biased due to my love for Hrithik but it wasn't a bad movie.
Very impressed with Vijay Sethupathi's performance.
I really wish I knew either Tamil or Malayalam to savor some of South Indian Cinema.
These pig-butchering scams are getting out of hand. Hope people are not falling for it anymore, especially now that the media is covering it more.
