Borrowing books on Libby is a good idea and I am happy that this model exists. However, somehow, most of the time, I am unable to take advantage of it.
It’s good for quick reads and I have used it few times for some Grisham type authors.
I usually like to read big immersive fiction books (King, Sanderson) though and I am never able to finish a book in a given time period. Any further renewal hits roadblock as other people are in the queue.
If I like the book enough, I just buy it on Kindle (or paperback) but otherwise, what I do is:-
- Place hold on hard copy and Libby e-book at same time.
- Usually hard copy arrives pretty quickly. Yay NJ library network. Libby, however, takes long time, especially for popular books, but I do get it eventually.
- Keep switching between these two formats till I finish the book.
P.S. – Currently using this model on ‘Fairy Tale’ by Stephen King.
